New Welland LCBO store to open March 9

A new LCBO store in Welland will open March 9.
The opening date was confirmed Tuesday by Sandra Kaiser, vice-president of corporate affairs for SmartCentres, the company that owns the retail cluster at Woodlawn Road and Primeway Drive, which includes Walmart, Canadian Tire and Rona.
Next to the new LCBO is Mark’s and Dollar Tree.
The project includes construction of 104 parking spots, City of Welland staff said last August.
In mid-August, communications staff for the LCBO said its store at Fitch Street Plaza, which opened in 1962, will close this spring. LCBO could not be immediately reached Tuesday to say when the Fitch Street store is officially closing.
In Welland, there is also an LCBO store in Rose City Plaza on Ontario Road.
LCBO’s press office said last summer it is not expected anyone will lose employment in the change.
