Business background

Supported by a diverse cross-section of founding partners, including, the Downtown Welland BIA, the North Welland BIA, the Welland Pelham Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Welland economic development office, myWelland.com first launched in the spring of 2014. The founding purpose was built on the concept of supporting local businesses and community organizations, helping to boost their online visibility and expand their client base.

With the intention of empowering residents, local businesses, and community organizations to work together as a community-building collaborative, myWelland.com is an online platform integrating web publishing, newsletter distribution, and social media. The goal of myWelland.com is to build a thriving, connected community by interactively sharing local community-sourced information.

The myWelland.com community is composed of established businesses, start-ups, non-profit organizations, artists, clubs, special interest groups, and other local contributors. The platform operates on a social enterprise business model that provides opportunity for all participants to collaboratively partner and build a common audience.

myWelland.com is proud to share positive stories submitted by local contributors and looks forward to working with residents, community groups, and businesses for many more years to come.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from our local Welland business sponsors, community partners, and contributors. Our community of subscribers and social followers continues to grow every day. The people of Welland have embraced our ‘love local’ message — recognizing it as a way for us to collectively communicate our civic pride. It has been our great joy to participate in the #ItsAllWellandGood movement and play a role in building the positive, collaborative voice emerging within the Rose City.”
