Welland residents will have at least three more options to choose from when buying lunch and dinner.

At the northwest corner of Rice and Thorold roads, a commercial space will be home to Papa John’s Pizza, KFC and Guac Mexi Grill.

A house at the corner has been demolished and a sign advertising space for lease has been erected.

The three chains already committed to the site will be joined by others as there are two units that remain available, said Ken Finch, a broker with Royal LePage.

A building slightly west of the lot on Thorold Road will soon be knocked down, as well as buildings at 11 and 17 Rice Rd., along with one on Rose Avenue.

A veterinary clinic in the area will be the only building to remain, said Finch, adding demolition permits have been applied for.

“It will be ready for early 2022,” Finch said, adding there will be ample room for parking.

The space is being developed by Harmount Investments and will be built by Stonebridge Building Group. Construction is planned to start this fall.

KFC will open first, followed by Guac Mexi Grill and Papa John’s.
