According to the 2021 Census, Welland’s population stood at 55,570, a 6.6% increase from the previous census in 2016. This represented the fastest growth rate in 50 years.
The latest estimates show an acceleration in this growth rate in the coming years. By 2041, Welland’s population is expected to increase by 47,250, when the municipality will become Niagara’s third to reach 100,000.
